Champions League Preview

Champions League Preview

Borussia Dortmund take on Real Madrid tonight and will be looking to overturn a somewhat insurmountable 3 goal deficit against the Spanish Giants.

Real Madrid are 6/5 favourites to win their away second leg after an comfortable 4-0 away win over Real Sociedad this weekend, they where without Cristiano Ronaldo, but he has since returned to training and is likely to Start this evening.

Real trail Neighbours Athletico Madrid by 3 points in La Liga but as Real’s next fixture is against 19th place Almeria, there’s little chance of fielding a completely weakened side in their away tie with Dortmund. Real Madrid To Win and Both Teams To Score: 12/5 at bet365.

Manchester United travel to Munich for their second leg against German champions Bayern with the tie finely poised at 1-1. Munich’s 53 unbeaten run ended with a 1-0 loss to Augsberg. But it should be noted that several key players were in fact rested for the game. United will be happy to face a side who have some level of doubt looming over their usually unquestionable form. Surely there’s no chance for United however with Bayern Munich 1/9 to qualify. United will be desperate to score at least a goal in order to overcome Munich’s away goal advantage, and with Rooney likely to start after overcoming a toe injury so Rooney to Score Anytime: 3/1 at bet365 looks possible from a Manchester United perspective.

Chelsea will have a difficult task as they welcome Paris Saint-Germain, who lead the tie thanks to a last minute Pastore goal 3-1. Chelsea have the all important away goal but will most likely need to keep it clean at the back if they harbour any chance of progression. They Chelsea rear guard will need to be on their toes though, as the last time PSG failed to score in a competitive match was on December 4th. Hazard to score first and Chelsea to win (90 minutes): 8/1 at bet365. It’s also worth noting that Hazard may not only be looking to impress his current owners as PSG have been linked to a summer more for the Chelsea play maker.

Athletico Madrid did enough to attain an away 1-1 draw with Barcelona in their first leg thanks to a wonder strike from Diego. They only had 2 shots on target so it can be said that Barcelona were unlucky to draw with 6 on target and 71% possession. Athletico should technically be favourites due to their away goal advantage and homebound-second leg but are actually 12/5 to win this leg and 6/5 to qualify. They’ll be desperate to defend this lead but Barca remain 4/6 favourites to qualify, which could provide some great odds potential in Athetico’s favour.
