Crystal Palace make approach to Blackpool for Ian Holloway

1st November 2012

• Palace want Blackpool manager to succeed Dougie Freedman
• ‘Approach made but it’s far from done,’ say Palace

Crystal Palace have made an approach to Blackpool in an attempt to bring Ian Holloway to Selhurst Park, according to reports.

Palace’s last full-time manager, Dougie Freedman, left to take over at Bolton Wanderers last week.

“An approach has been made but it’s far from done,” the Palace chairman, Steve Parish, told the BBC.

The 49-year-old Holloway has been the manager of Blackpool since May 2009, and has also had spells in charge of Queens Park Rangers, Plymouth, Leicester City and Bristol Rovers.

In 2009-10 Holloway led Blackpool to promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs. Palace have confirmed that their caretaker manager Lennie Lawrence has left the club and will be following Freedman to Bolton after a deal was reached over the 64-year-old assistant coach. © 2012 Guardian News and Media Limited or its affiliated companies.
